Ok, so I hope that title really grabbed your attention. I want to talk about something that God has really hit me hard on last night. I was scrolling through facebook and I saw a post that really bothered me. So, I hit hide on the post and then facebook asked me another question... Do you want to block this person? NO!!! I don't want to block them! Then I started thinking about this question... When did we become so cynical as a society that we felt the need to start blocking real flesh and blood human beings? When did we decide that we no longer need to "deal" with other humans? Then the question came to my heart... What would Jesus say about this blocking mentality?
Well, He did speak to it in Matthew 25:40-45
40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,[a] you were doing it to me!’See our lack of love for others is indicative of a lack of love for Christ Jesus.
41 “Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.[b] 42 For I was hungry, and you didn’t feed me. I was thirsty, and you didn’t give me a drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you didn’t invite me into your home. I was naked, and you didn’t give me clothing. I was sick and in prison, and you didn’t visit me.’
44 “Then they will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and not help you?’
45 “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’
God's word also addresses those who we don't really like in Luke 6:27-26
27 “But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. 28 Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, offer the other cheek also. If someone demands your coat, offer your shirt also. 30 Give to anyone who asks; and when things are taken away from you, don’t try to get them back. 31 Do to others as you would like them to do to you.32 “If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! 33 And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! 34 And if you lend money only to those who can repay you, why should you get credit? Even sinners will lend to other sinners for a full return.
35 “Love your enemies! Do good to them. Lend to them without expecting to be repaid. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to those who are unthankful and wicked. 36 You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate.
See, we have to stop being so angry and closed off to this world that God has given us to dwell in. He has given us a mission. A mission of love, mercy, and grace. Until we embrace this mission, stop building walls, and start building bridges with each other, we will not truely be fulfilling the mission of Acts 1:8 to be His witnesses.
Well, that is my 2 cents for today...
