Ambition

Ambition for success is a great thing as long as it's motivations are righteous and will give glory to God.  After all, God does call us to to do our best for the glory of His kingdom.  Ambition becomes a sinful and wicked thing when it causes you to beat down people on our own team on the way to the top.  Let us make sure our motivations and methods benefit the whole body of Christ as we seek success in this world.

James 4:1-3
What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you?  You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.  And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

We are so afraid that if we do not maintain control (or a the image of control) then we will lose everything. Guess what, you can either give it to God or the world will take it, but you control NOTHING! God liberates us when we cast off our meager and pitiful attempts to control our lives. We must give it ALL TO HIM and then we are no longer slaves. I am not sure who said it, but there is a famous quote that says, "Show me your bank statement and show me
